2010 - Day 8: O Canada

Once again, our school's choir sang the National Anthem
at the Manitoba Moose game! They did a great job and sounded awesome!

2010 - Day 6: Labels A Plenty

Yes, we eat a lot of Campbell's soup. Not. We just collect them for Labels for Education for the school and get points to buy stuff. You need quite a few points to buy anything but we're getting there. Feel free to send me your labels if you are so inclined! ;-)

Project 365 - Day 132: Last Day!

Today was the last day of school and it was a sad one for my daughter, especially. She had Mrs Bunkowsky this year who was by far, the best teacher she's had in her young school life! As her gift, we made her a scrapbook page of the barn party that her family threw back in May. I think she really liked it!

Project 365 - Day 131: The Zoo

It was a field trip to the Assiniboine Park Zoo for the whole school today!! Luckily it wasn't too hot or else many of the kids would have been miserable. We didn't have tons of time to spend in the actual zoo but we did get to see a few animals, including many peacocks strutting around and showing off their feathers!

Project 365 - Day 117: Fort Whyte

These are good times, my friends. Spending the morning with my son's Kindergarten class at Fort Whyte. It was a great day for it. We won't mention the mosquitoes. Saw some pelicans, turtles, geese, went critter dipping. Good times, good times!

Project 365 - Day 99: Spring Fling!

It was the annual Spring Fling at school and back by popular demand was the Jar Bar. Kids bring in jars filled with goodies and for 2 tickets ($1.00) they get to take a random jar home. There were about 140 some odd jars to be taken home and Tana was first in line to get a jar and was not happy with the jar she got. She ended up trading jars later for something that was more to her liking!

Project 365 - Day 82: Lower Fort Garry

Took the day off work to go to Lower Fort Garry with my daughter's class. Although a field trip is exhausting, it is soooo worth the price of admission to go. The kids are a total riot! I took tooo many pictures and had to pick one for today! We even managed to avoid the first thunderstorm of the season while at the Fort - it just rained on us while coming back on the bus! Good times!

Project 365 - Day 47: The LRSD Film Festival

Last night was the inaugural Film Festival for the Louis Riel School Division of which my daughter and some of her classmates had a film entered in. A film which they wrote the script for, acted in and filmed all themselves based on an incident which happened to one of them a few years ago. It was quite exciting for them as they had official pictures taken and the red carpet was rolled out for all participants before the festival started. We are all very proud of our kids for participating in and making such a great film!

Project 365 - Day 36: The WSSA?

Did you all know there is a WSSA and what it stands for? Its the World Sport Stacking Association and until a few months ago, I didn't know speed stacking existed and apparently my daughter's teacher next year teaches cup stacking to her Grade 4's.
Tana got a set for her birthday last week and spent a better part of 4 hours today stacking cups! She even wants to have some friends over to have a speed stacking competition, complete with prizes! I myself, won't be participating in that as I need some serious help in the speed stacking portion of my life. From what I can tell, though, its a great activity to help with concentration, hand eye co-ordination and any activity like that can only be a good thing!

Projedt 365 - Day 27: Movie Nite!

I should have taken a picture of the billboard outside but I didn't see it til we left. Tonight was Movie Nite at the school and the feature presentation was Bolt!, a movie that a lot of us haven't seen so it was something to look forward too! Everybody dresses up in their jammies, bring blankets, pillows, stuffed animals and hunkers down in the gym to watch! Since the pictures of the movie didn't work out so well, here's a shot of the mayhem during intermission. The kids seem to go wild and crazy for the 10 or so minutes the lights are on. But all in all, everyone seemed to have a good time.

Project 365 - Day 9: The Homework Story

So there's a story to this homework picture. I get to daycare to pick Gavin up and her teacher's called saying Tana's forgotten her homework. Tana's not there, she's at Carmen's so her teacher says she'll phone there. Huh? So I trudge over to the school to get her homework and who comes out, but Carmen's Mom. "What are you doing here?" I ask. Oh, she's picking up Tana's homework. Apparently everybody knows how upset she'll be knowing she's forgotten it.

So, anyways at the Parent Council meeting later, Tana's homework was a topic of conversation. Seems almost *everybody* was aware of the homework incident. But the Principal had a good explanation for the homework panic - the class had a choice to work on their homework or this other project and they chose the other project on the condition that they finished their homework at home. Here's the picture of her finishing her math homework with her Dad. Pictograms, apparently.
